Facebook.....an addiction or just a pastime?

Facebook has become the new thing today. How many hours do we spend on Facebook a day? isn't it a little addicting? In class the professor used the analogy that Facebook was like a casino and I do agree with that. It does get a little addicting to find out what others are doing and also the gossip that is going around. All the games in a casino are the news feed in Facebook and when you play in the casino you are writing comments and liking status in Facebook.

I mean I am not against that, I have a Facebook and I like being on it but i don't check it that often. Its good to have something to do when you are bored at a computer. Its good to know how your friends are feeling or what they are going through. I think it Facebook has both positive and negative features but I still enjoy being part of it! :)

  1. I agree in regards to the positive aspects of Facebook: it is a great tool for people who want to know how their friends are feeling and find out how they are doing. There can be times where certain friends may be going through a rough time and need extra support during crises, in which case Facebook can be a good outlet for people to express their feelings and get positive feedback from others trying to help.

Despite Facebook's addictive quality and other negative aspects, I still think Facebook does have its positives. It's important to make sure you are not on it for too long, though, because it can take up a lot of valuable time.

  2. Good connection using the word addictive. As I tried to compare the two I never came up with that word. I couldn't agree more with people spending to much time on Facebook. As for those who spend too much time at a casino, that's another problem.
